Ohio National Guard - Camp Perry

Campy Perry Readiness Center

Providing modern facilities to support military training.

Project Details

Context

The new Readiness Center was seen as an opportunity to add to the recruitment and retention of unit members. In initial meetings, it was emphasized that the design be functional and easy to maintain.  A people-first mentality and unit morale drove the overall design, with historical pieces and imagery providing focal points for the unit.

Collaboration

Domokur approached this project by teaming with HTK Architects, a national design firm with Readiness Center expertise. We led the team of design consultants, provided a local presence and were the Architect of Record for full architectural services, including interior design services and furniture selection. Working closely with the State of Ohio Adjutant General’s Department, we carefully considered the functional relationships between various groups in the building and circulation.

Concept

The new Readiness Center will support individual and collective training, administrative, automation and communications and logistical requirements for the OHARNG. The floor plan is laid out to be as flexible as possible. The building’s appearance is designed to be functional as well as economical, using regional materials when available.

Results

Our team provided a verification of the preliminary design, Planning and Programming Document, and we have submitted all design requirements in accordance with applicable guidelines including DOD’s Unified Facilities Code, 42 U.S. Code 4154, Antiterrorism Measures, 415-1 Army National Guard Readiness Center Design Guide, and NG Pam 415-12. We successfully established project requirements, resolved issues, and generated solutions. The project was successfully bid with multiple add Alternative Bid Items accepted. The project is currently under construction with substantial completion anticipated in April 2026.
